For the vast majority of children and young people, school building will close tonight and not reopen for the forseeable future.
Taking up a place at school during this time of wider closure is the offer of a last resort, for the minority of key workers, who have no alternative.
These places will be for childcare only and not for education.
If we cannot provide enough staff to support these children the school will close completely.
Please keep yourselves and others safe.
Governor biographies 2018/19
I have degrees in Law and IT, and am a member of the British Computer Society. Currently, I work at ‘Eye Heroes’ and volunteer with ‘Junior parkrun’ and 'CTiD'. I have two children; one child attends Ashby Fields Primary School.
I have had a career in education. This has included working as a primary and secondary school teacher, local authority adviser, Ofsted Inspector and Head of Education in two universities. I have been a governor for over 25 years, chairing 5 primary schools, Vice Chair of a Secondary School and Chair of a School Trust (of 8 schools). I have been Chair of Governors at Ashby Fields since November 2016 and I recently became the Chair of Governors at Millbrook Junior School in Kettering. I live in Northamptonshire.
I am proud to be Headteacher at Ashby Fields and cannot believe this is my fifth year in post. Following a career in newspapers I went back to school and achieved an honours degree in teaching and learning at Northampton University. I have taught in schools in Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Bedfordshire and feel privileged to witness children’s journey from that first tentative day in Reception through to their triumphant last day in Year Six. I enjoy working with the Local Governing Board as they are both supportive yet challenging.
My involvement with Ashby Fields prior to becoming a governor has been through my work in setting up and developing the ‘Parent Partnership’ group as well as being a parent of two children who have been educated at the school. My professional background is in hospitality, customer service and marketing.
I graduated with a Geography degree in 2004 and have been a Firefighter in Coventry for 12 years. I have 2 children and the oldest is at Ashby Fields. Before having children I volunteered at Citizens Advice Daventry for 4.5 years as a Generalist Adviser.
I have been a part of the Ashby Fields family for many years as a member of the teaching team and, most recently, as Phase Leader for Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2. I became staff governor in January 2013 which has given me a different insight into how the school is run and lead. I have one child who goes to school in Northampton where we live.
Prior to retiring 2 years ago I was a secondary English teacher for over 20 years, teaching in a variety of Northamptonshire and Rugby schools. Throughout this time I had an especial interest in literacy and special needs students. I have always maintained an interest in school governance and whilst my children attended The Grange was a parent governor.
I am a retired Solicitor and was Chief Executive of Daventry District Council between 1983 and 1998 when I joined the United Nations and served in Kosovo. I have served in the Royal Naval Reserves for many years. I have been a governor of Daventry William Parker School, Daventry Tertiary College and St. James School, Taunton. My son attends Ashby Fields Primary School.
I have worked in design and communications for most of my career, predominantly within international development and the wider charity sector. I now run a creative agency specialising in this area. I live in Daventry and my eldest child attends Ashby Fields.
I have the pleasure of being Clerk to the Governing Body at Ashby Fields. I also Clerk for a number of other schools in the Trust. Previously I taught in a secondary school in Northamptonshire for 30+ years.
